“This is the Law of Ukraine ‘On Ensuring Traceability of Aquatic Biological Resources and/or Products Made from Aquatic Biological Resources’ (bill No. 9545). The document is part of our commitments under the Association Agreement with the EU and concerns a very specific but important topic – sustainable water resource management,” said Minister of Agrarian Policy Vitaliy Koval.

The document provides for the following changes:

– Clear traceability rules for fish and fish products from catch to consumer are established.
– European certificates for export, re-export, and processing are introduced.
– Control over illegal and unreported fishing is strengthened.
– Interests of Ukrainian fishermen and transparently operating enterprises are protected.

“These are not just another set of Eurointegration changes – this is about trust in Ukrainian products in foreign markets. About fair play rules for business. About responsible attitude towards natural resources… This is a step that strengthens environmental security, supports exports, and opens up new opportunities for Ukrainian producers,” emphasized Vitaliy Koval.
