As a rule, stabilization prices for amaranth throughout the year do not change and correlate with the purchase price. For example, if the purchase price of amaranth increases next year, the selling price at processing plants will also increase by a certain percentage. This was reported by the head of the Association of Amaranth and Amaranth Products Producers Oleksandr Duda, according to AgroPortal.

“Every year we make agreements with farmers for the sale of the entire volume of amaranth that will be grown. It can be 1 ton, it can be 100 tons, while fixing the purchase price. For example, this year the purchase price of amaranth is 30 UAH/kg, that is, 30 thousand UAH/ton – this is the guaranteed purchase price,” said Oleksandr Duda.
He noted that market prices have been operating in Ukraine since last year, meaning there are traders who can offer farmers a higher price.
The expert also informed that about 50% of amaranth grown in Ukraine is processed, and 50% is exported.
“Therefore, they try to maintain a balance so that the export price does not exceed the demand price. Every year a price for amaranth is formed, which producers rely on and accordingly plan sowing areas. This year, it is planned to sow up to 10 thousand hectares with amaranth,” added Oleksandr Duda.
