The Security Service of Ukraine, together with the National Anti-Corruption Bureau, documented new crimes of a current member of the Ukrainian Parliament, who was caught taking a bribe in August 2023 to resolve “land issues.” This was reported by the SBU.

It has now been established that the MP also organized a scheme to misappropriate property of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences totaling over 30 million UAH.
According to the case materials, during 2021-2023, the suspect used controlled agricultural lands to grow and illegally sell wholesale batches of grain through a network of affiliated companies. This involved over 2,500 tons of agricultural products.
To implement the schemes, the MP involved a deputy of the Kyiv Regional Council, two heads of state enterprises of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences, and a trusted person.
In order to conceal the crime, the perpetrators did not reflect the actual amount of harvested crops in the accompanying documents.
Based on the collected evidence, the MP and four of his accomplices were informed of suspicion under Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (embezzlement, misappropriation or seizure of property by abuse of official position, committed in particularly large amounts by an organized group).
The issue of applying preventive measures to them is being resolved. The offenders face up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
It is worth noting that in August 2023, the Security Service and NABU exposed the suspected MP taking a bribe of $85,000. For this money, he promised to transfer land plots of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences to the use of a businessman. This case is already being heard in court.
The investigation is ongoing under the procedural guidance of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office.
