In May 2025, the situation with fish prices continues to cause concern among buyers. An analysis of current prices shows ambiguous dynamics for different types of fish products compared to April indicators, according to agronews.ua.

Carp, which is one of the most affordable types of fish, has shown a noticeable increase in price. If in April the average price for live carp was 149.30 UAH per kilogram, in May this figure rose to 168.05 UAH, indicating an increase of 12.6%. Processed carp became even more expensive – from 194.93 UAH to 213.05 UAH per kilogram, representing a 9.3% increase.
As for lightly salted herring, there is a slight increase – from April’s 192.70 UAH per kilogram to May’s 194.37 UAH.
An interesting situation has arisen with fresh-frozen mackerel, which, unlike other types of fish, has shown a price decrease. In April, the average price per kilogram of mackerel was 210.20 UAH, and in May it decreased to 206.55 UAH, demonstrating a 1.7% decrease.
Dieticians remind that even with rising prices, fish remains an indispensable source of complete protein and beneficial substances, so it is recommended not to completely exclude it from the diet, but to look for more affordable options or alternative sources of omega-3 fatty acids.
