At the international exhibition CIAME in the Chinese city of Wuhan, the company Zhongke Yuandongli presented a tractor under the new brand Chivotor, the engine of which runs on methyl alcohol (methanol). Developers claim that such fuel is cheap and environmentally friendly, as it can be produced from biogas obtained from agricultural waste. This was reported by Świat Techniki Rolniczej.

The new machine has a power of 340 hp and is equipped with a continuously variable transmission CVT. According to the manufacturer, methanol is not inferior to diesel fuel in efficiency, but when burned, emissions of nitrogen oxides and particulate matter are insignificant.
“Methanol is a fuel that is extracted in an environmentally friendly way and at the same time it is significantly cheaper than traditional analogues,” emphasized representatives of the Chinese brand.
The Chivotor tractor has a reinforced chassis for working with heavy loads and a cabin with a level of comfort comparable to passenger cars. The operator’s workplace is equipped with intelligent electronic control and a seat with pneumatic suspension.
Since the company Zhongke Yuandongli specializes in robotics, the new tractor can be additionally equipped with a module for fully autonomous operation without a driver.
