The High Anti-Corruption Court has taken into custody two suspects in a case of illegal seizure of land in the capital by a criminal organization controlled by a former deputy of the Kyiv City Council. This was reported by the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAP), according to agronews.ua.

The investigating judge of the High Anti-Corruption Court supported the position of the SAP prosecutor and changed the preventive measure for the two suspects in the case involving the criminal organization led by the former deputy of the Kyiv City Council. The purpose of the organization was to seize land in the capital and take full control of the local government’s decision-making process regarding land rights.
The individuals involved include a former deputy head of the Kyiv City State Administration and his accomplice.
Considering that the suspects did not provide the court-ordered bail amounts of 24.9 million UAH and 15 million UAH respectively, the prosecution requested a change in the preventive measure from bail to detention with the option of posting bail.
The court agreed with the prosecutor’s arguments and changed the preventive measures, imposing detention with the option of posting bail of 20 million UAH for the former official of the Kyiv City Council and detention with a bail of 10 million UAH for his accomplice.
At present, the pre-trial investigation in the case has been completed. The defense is reviewing the case materials.
